Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Division

Responsibilities
The Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) Division is charged with the responsibility of ensuring the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office meets and/or exceeds the requirements set forth by Georgia Law as they pertain to the Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS). This includes the responsibility of implementing the Terminal Operator Training Program as required by the GCIC and Georgia Law.

Additionally, the unit performs inquiries into State of Georgia, other states, and national databases, as well as to international law enforcement agencies to obtain information pertaining to:
  • Driver’s licensing
  • Georgia Criminal History Files
  • Georgia Protection Order Registry
  • Georgia Sexually Violent Offender Registry
  • Immigration/naturalization files
  • Parole/probation/corrections files
  • Pawn shop records
  • Vehicle registration
  • Violent gang and terrorist organizations
Additional Duties
The unit is further charged with performing the duties of liaison between the Sheriff and GCIC, assisting the agency in the writing of policy/procedures/regulations as they pertain to:
  • Administration of terminal connectivity/security access to state hubs and maintenance of those data connections
  • Contractor Security Clearance Program as required by NCIC
  • GCIC, NCIC, CJIS Networks, as well as other functions and the laws affecting them
