WEAPONS CARRY LICENSE

* Weapons Carry Licenses (WCL) are issued: Mon. – Fri. | 8:00am - 11:30am and 1:00pm - 4:30pm

* Applicants must be 21 years of age or older and have a valid State of Georgia Driver's License or State of Georgia Photo ID that reflects a Jefferson County residency.

* New applicants or State of Georgia WCL holders that are 30 days past expiration, or weapons carry license holders of another state MUST be fingerprinted at the Jefferson County Probate Court within 5 days of applying for a WCL. Current State of Georgia WCL holders can renew up to 90 days before the expiration or 30 days after expiration of the WCL.

 * Both new and renewal applicants MUST have a background check completed to have their WCL application processed by the probate court. There are no additional fees for this process. Waivers and other required documents for background checks MUST be competed in the office of the Probate court.  

 * The Probate Court accepts cash, money orders and debit/credit (a 4.5% convenience fee is charged by the EZ Court Pay). No Personal Checks!

 * If you have lost your WCL or need a replacement, or change of address, please call our office during normal business hours for more information. If you have moved to Jefferson County and have a license issued by another county in Georgia, you must return to the issuing county to change your address. You must appear in person for this process, and you must turn in your old license to the court before you will be given a new one as pursuant to Georgia law.

***Please be advised that we will not accept copies of the WCL Applications printed online from various sources. Applications should be completed online at the www.georgiaprobaterecords.com and will be printed in the Jefferson County Probate Court for you to sign in front of the probate court clerk. ***

New WCL or Out of State WCL Holder: $78.25

Renewal WCL: $30.00

WCL for Retired Law enforcement: $7.00

Replacement of Lost or Stolen Card or Change of Address: $6.00
